The vast majority of employees, in an equally vast majority of companies, are now building their sense of security on the basis of the trend in psychology, prevailing for at least 20 years, of individualisation (mindfulness), as well as the trend of positive thinking.
The mixture of esoterics, yoga, meditation, coaching and several other components, whose common characteristic is the elimination from one’s own brain, even the slightest trace of self-reflection, has resulted in what it had to result in, that is, a rapidly progressing infantilisation.
The main effect of this is that most of the social (cultural) changes (challenges) associated with postmodernity are so far beyond the capacity of individuals, that the only solution they see is to escape from the real world into the so-called painted world, full of cheap ‘Likes’, friendly avatars, or fantastic game worlds.
While in relatively peaceful times it is possible to function in this way, as an individual and as a company, without suffering the far-reaching consequences, in times when one crisis is chasing another and the next years (decades) are not likely to be an oasis of peace (climate, pandemics, digitalisation, cybersecurity, authoritarianism, totalitarianism, etc.), not seriously addressing the sense of security of the actors involved, equals on sabotaging one’s own vital interests or equivalently, the company’s vital interests.
The only reasonable solution to these enormous challenges is to start building resilience as soon as possible, but not the kind of resilience we have seen so far, a resilience mistaken as indifference, but a real resilience.
Such resilience, however, requires a building material that is almost the exact opposite of that which has been so far and so willingly used.
The essence of this proper building material is solidarity, and thus cooperation, not the kind that is pretended and simulated on a daily basis, but the real one, i.e. something that today few teams, few departments, few divisions, few management boards, and thus few companies are characterised by.
AND THE RESULT: THE ABILITY FOR PEOPLE AND COMPANIES TO REACT IMMEDIATELY AND RATIONALLY, WHILE REDUCING STRESS TO THE MAXIMUM AND MAINTAINING A HIGH LEVEL OF INNOVATION.
